A Nebraska man sustained non-life threatening injuries Saturday after losing control of his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 85 in Lawrence County.

James Self, 59, of Gering, Neb. was driving northbound 12 miles south of Cheyenne Crossing when the accident occurred around 12:15 p.m., according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

Self had swerved to miss an object in the road but lost control of his motorcycle and laid it on its side. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Self was transported to Deadwood Hospital, according to a news release.
