RAPID CITY - Authorities made seven arrests for DUI and four arrests for drug violations Friday night in two traffic checkpoints by the Rapid City Police Department and the Pennington County Sheriff's Office.
There also were at least 10 license violations, including driving under revocation or suspension and driving without a license.
One checkpoint was near the 400 block of North Fifth Street. Another was near the 1100 block of North La Crosse Street. The checkpoints were conducted simultaneously from 10 p.m. to midnight. Several officers continued working on a DUI saturation effort after the checkpoints were closed.
Police officers will continue periodic DUI checkpoints in the coming months, and the DUI task force will continue working to discourage drinking and driving.
