Ellsworth proposes demolishing old facilities

A number of demolitions have been proposed for Ellsworth Air Force Base, according to a news release from the base public-affairs office.

The following demolitions have been proposed for the base in accordance with the "updated environmental assessment for Ellsworth": Facility 601; Propulsion Shop; Facility 1500; Jet Engine Test Cell; Facility 1502; Jet Engine Test Cell Support Building; Facility 2011; former Gas Meter Facility; Facility 4704; former AAFES Tire Shop; Facility 5202; Visitor Control Center; Facility 7107; Avionics Test Packages Storage; Facility 88524; former Line Maintenance Storage Shed; Facility 88554; former Line Maintenance; Facility 609; Life Support Building; Facility 109; Juniper Inn; Facility 110; Oak Inn.

Environmental assessment information on the sites is available at Ellsworth's Holbrook Library and at Rapid City Public Library.
