A new set of stores is slated for Rushmore Crossing, and that could mean some businesses would move from the Rushmore Mall.

The new shopping center will add at least six stores, with another 20 stores negotiating for spots in the blossoming retail area, according to a map released this month by Rushmore Crossing's leasing agent.

Dollar Tree, Eyemart, Verizon Wireless, GameStop, Impressive Nails and Interstate All Battery Center have executed leases with Katz & Associates Corp., the leasing agent. The stores are listed on a map posted this month on the Katz & Associates' Web site.

Of the stores reportedly dealing with the firm, seven are currently in the Rushmore Mall. Rushmore Crossing's confirmed leases includes one with GameStop, whose lone Rapid City location opens onto the mall's food court.

Other mall stores with leases under negotiation include Maurices, Motherhood Maternity, Famous Footwear, C.J. Banks and Pro Image.

Pearle Vision and Alltel stores also are apparently in negotiations for a spot in Rushmore Crossing, a 900,000-square-foot development that fronts the south side of Interstate 90 between the La Crosse Street and East North Street exits.

Kat Stark, the mall's marketing director, said she could not speak for mall tenants named on the map. A telephone call and e-mail to GameStop's corporate spokeswoman were not immediately returned.

Rushmore Crossing recently completed its first stage of growth, with the construction and opening of Gordmans, Target and Scheels. TJ Maxx and several other retail outlets joined Gordmans in a strip mall known to the retail development world as a "power center."

Dollar Tree and a potential Office Max would anchor an eastward extension of that strip of buildings.

Interstate All Battery Center is housed in a separate building, on the north side of Eglin Street. Adjacent to that is a larger building set to hold Verizon Wireless, GameStop and Impressive Nails, among other stores. Numerous outer lots throughout the retail zone and several hotel sites on the west edge of the development are still available, according to the Katz & Associates map.

The other stores listed would string between Scheels and Target, with others extending west, toward the planned Sam's Club.

The new map also included the new Sam's Club that will replace the one on La Crosse Street. The 141,253-square-foot warehouse membership store will face roughly northeast and include a gas station at one end of its parking lot.

Also listed as in negotiations with Katz & Associates are Jo-Ann Fabrics, Babies 'R' Us, Justice, Christopher & Banks, Hastings, The Children's Place, Avenue, Office Max, Hallmark, Man Salon, Infinity Day Spa, Sally Beauty and Mens Wearhouse.
