Sgt. Shannon Crane of Summerset was awarded the Joint Service

Commendation Medal and Joint Service Achievement Medal on Nov. 3 at a Freedom Salute in Bismarck, N.D., according to a news release.

The Bismarck-based 1/129th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment on Saturday has 20 soldiers - 13 from the Bismarck Detachment and seven from the headquarters element in Rapid City.

The unit was mobilized for active duty in April 2006 and returned in June 2007 after 15 months of deployment.
