Only fireworks approved by the fire department with fire-suppression standby services will be allowed for public safety reasons.
The penalty for having an open fire or setting off fireworks is a maximum fine of $200 and 30 days in jail for each violation. A fine for the cost of fire suppression, if needed, could also be included.
The resolution includes a ban on campfires, warning fires, charcoal-grill fires and the prescribed burning of fence rows, fields, wildlands, trash and debris.
Smoking also is prohibited, unless within an enclosed vehicle or building, a developed recreational site or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of flammable materials.
