STURGIS - The 40th annual Black Hills Steam & Gas Threshing Bee will run Friday through Sunday, Aug. 15-17, on the Western Dakota Antique Club grounds east of Sturgis along Alkali Road.

Friday's events will feature a Steel Wheel Tractor Pull at 1 p.m., followed by a parade at 4 p.m. Many types of agricultural machinery will be showcased at that time.

A spaghetti supper beginning at 6 p.m. wraps up Friday's activities. Hillbillys will provide the entertainment.

Saturday's parade starts at 1 p.m., and the Green Mountain Tractor Pullers will sponsor a 2 p.m. tractor pull. A quilt show is scheduled for 3 p.m.

A picnic and dance are slated for 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively, on Saturday. Western Dakota Antique Club will sponsor a meal of burgers, hot dogs, and steamed corn on the cob. Everyone is welcome to attend. Bob Grimm & The Grimm Reapers will perform at the dance.

Sunday's events begin with a 9 a.m. church service, followed by the dead tractor race at 10:45 a.m. The slow tractor race takes center stage at 10:45 a.m.

A tractor trophy pull will start at 11 a.m. Threshing demonstrations begin at 11 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. The weekend's final parade begins at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Food vendors and a flea market are on the grounds all weekend. Exhibits feature tractors, stationary engines, steam engines, antiques, a schoolhouse, museum, post office, log house, blacksmith shop, kids' rides and rope making.

Gates open at 7 a.m. all three days. Fees are $5 for a daily single pass, $10 for a daily family pass, $12 for a three-day single pass, and $25 for a three-day family pass.

Friday is Senior Day: Two seniors will be admitted for the price of one.

Men who wear bib overalls and women wearing bonnets receive $1 off the admission fee all weekend. Children younger than 12 receive free admission.
