Pine Ridge Indian Reservation opponents of Native American Energy Group have said Raj Nanvaan, the company's financial officer, had been cited for a securities violation under another name.

Nanvaan said a company he worked for in 1998, for three months, later was investigated for fraud. Company officials went to prison, Nanvaan said, but he didn't know about the fraud and was never charged. In a civil action, the Securities and Exchange Commission ordered him to return $10,000 in commissions.

Nanvaan said he legally changed his name from Tejbir Singh in 2000 for business reasons.
