About 10,513 walkers made the 23rd annual public hike to the Crazy Horse Memorial mountain carving last weekend.

Near-perfect weather conditions and lack of scheduling conflicts with area high school graduation ceremonies helped increase attendance from last year.

Hikers this year gave 17,852 pounds of food and $8,768 to benefit the KOTA Care & Share regional food drive.

The Crazy Horse Volksmarch is the only time the public can walk to the world's largest carving in progress.
