A retired woman from Gillette, Wyo., won a slot machine jackpot worth $228,703 on Tuesday.
The player, identified as "Elaine S.," won the Wheel of Fortune quarters MegaJackpot at the Tin Lizzie Casino after wagering $140, according to a news release. It was the first such prize won this year at the Main Street gambling hall but its fourth since 1996.
The game is played on a citywide network of slot machines that build the jackpot until it is won. Since game maker IGT's progressive system started 10 years ago in Deadwood, players have won 17 jackpots totaling $5.5 million.
