The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has selected Steve Guertin as the new regional director of the Mountain-Prairie Region, headquartered in Denver. The region includes Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas.

Guertin will assume his duties in February. Before this appointment, he was the Service's budget officer for the past eight years in Washington, D.C.

"I'm grateful for this opportunity to work with our state partners, other federal agencies, tribal governments, private organizations and the public to conserve and protect the outstanding natural resources found in the Mountain Prairie Region," Guertin said in a prepared news release.
