U.S. Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, D-S.D., is accepting applications for winter internships in her Washington, D.C., Aberdeen, Rapid City and Sioux Falls offices. South Dakota natives who are current college students are encouraged to apply.

"Any young South Dakotan interested in public policy or government is encouraged to apply for an internship with my office," she said in a news release.

The Washington internship will offer exposure to a wide range of duties in a Congressional office, including firsthand experience with aspects of the federal government.

The state office internships include involvement in day-to-day contact with and outreach to South Dakotans who need assistance with a federal government program.

The deadline to apply is December 14.
