The state Game, Fish & Parks Department has completed its purchase of 33 acres in west Rapid City for a planned outdoor education facility and regional office.

The area along Sturgis Road was previously owned by Northwest Engineering and businessman Stan Adelstein.

GF&P Secretary Jeff Vonk in a news release said the purchase received financial support from the John T. Vucurevich Foundation and the Rapid City Izaak Walton League.

Vonk said officials hope to open the complex in 2010, but said an official timeline and budget are under development.
