Rapid City Police officers are investigating a suspicious death Sunday as a homicide.

The Rapid City Police Department said in a news release that police responded to a report of a deceased person in the backyard of a residence in the 900 block of Dilger in Rapid City about 8 a.m.

There, officers found the body of a 32-year-old man, the news release said. The man has been identified, but his name is being withheld until his next of kin have been notified.

Police said, because the circumstances of the incident are suspicious, the investigation is being worked jointly as a homicide by detectives from the Rapid City Police Department and Pennington County Sheriff's Office.
