The Pennington County Commission voted Tuesday to send a letter to the city of Rapid City asking that any county representatives appointed to the city's tax increment financing committee be nonvoting liaison members only.

One of the proposals of a city committee reviewing TIF policy is to form a TIF committee to review all applications requesting the use of the economic development tool before those applications are considered by the city planning commission.

If formed, the committee as proposed would consist of two city council members, two planning commission members, a representative from the Rapid City school district, one from the Rapid City Economic Development Partnership and one from Pennington County.

The TIF policy committee is scheduled to meet again at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, to finalize its policy recommendations before submitting them to the mayor.
