A Rapid City woman was arrested Saturday on multiple charges after she drove away without paying for gasoline, according to Rapid City Police Sgt. Rich Fox.
Jonnie Clifford, 20, fueled up and was getting ready to leave a gas station on East North Street without paying when a police officer happened to be driving by, about 3:20 p.m., Fox said.
Employees flagged the officer down, and he pulled Clifford over a short distance away, near Pine and East Watertown streets.
As the officer approached her car, Clifford pulled away, and in doing so hit the police car, Fox said. The officer was not injured, and there was minor damage to the police car. Clifford was apprehended less than a mile away, in the 1600 block of North La Crosse Street, Fox said.
Clifford was arrested on charges of theft, hit and run, reckless driving, felony driving under the influence, eluding, driving under revocation and under-age consumption.
She remained in custody Saturday evening at Pennington County Jail.
