Residents of Piedmont have until Monday, Oct. 22, to register to vote in the community's first municipal election on Nov. 6.
Piedmont voters approved incorporating the community in August.
In November, voters will select five people for staggered terms on the board of trustees.
Candidates for two three-year terms on the board are Phillip Hauk, Philip C. Anderson and Kim Plymate.
Running for two two-year seats on the board are William J. Vallette, David Murphy, Damien P. Schuster and John L. Parks.
Clifford Hemsher is unopposed for a one-year term on the board.
Piedmont currently has about 98 registered voters, according to Meade County auditor Lisa Schieffer.
Anyone who has not registered to vote can do so at the Meade County Auditor's Office.
A downloadable registration form is available at www.state.sd.us/sos/sos.htm or www.meadecounty.org.
Registration forms must be in the auditor's office on Oct. 22.
Anyone concerned about their registration can contact the auditor's office at 347-2360.
