Rapid City police said Tuesday night that two juveniles are responsible for a grass fire that broke out shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday near East Oakland Street and Merlot Drive in central Rapid City.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and protect the homes in the area. Tips provided by neighborhood residents helped police identify the juveniles they believe responsible.

The investigation will continue, and criminal charges are likely, police Sgt. Chris DeGroote said Tuesday.
