A Rapid City native has been ranked among the nation's top congressional lobbyists for grassroots groups by The Hill newspaper in Washington.

Monica Mills, a 1974 graduate of Central High School and 1982 alumnus of Black Hills State University, is director of government relations for Bread for the World, an anti-hunger advocacy group. According to a news release, she also has worked for public policy groups, nongovernmental organizations and political campaigns in the capitol. She oversaw recruitment and overseas placement of volunteers for the Peace Corps during her 20 years of senior management experience.

The Hill also listed the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, AARP, the American Civil Liberties Union, the AFL-CIO, and such leading environmental groups as the Sierra Club and the Environmental Working Group.

Mills' mother is Jackie Lindenmeyer of Rapid City.
