The 2007 BMW Stampede in Spearfish on July 6 and 7 is aimed at attracting BMW motorcycle riders heading east to West Bend, Wis., for the 35th annual BMW Motorcycle Owners Association National Rally on July 12.

The BMW Stampede officially starts at noon Friday, July 6, with registration at Chris' Campground in Spearfish. About 5 p.m., rally participants will cruise to Main Street.

This year, partnering with the Downtown Business Association's First Friday's event, Main Street will feature an evening motorcycle show-and-shine, poker walk, live radio remote, food and welcome reception at Horses to Harley's pub. Open containers will be allowed in the designated area, and local entertainer Brock Finn will begin the festivities.

Any motorcycle is welcome to park on Main Street during the show-and-shine, event official Aaron Terveen said.

On Saturday, July 7, the "Six Gun" poker run registration begins at Chris' Campground. All riders who would like to participate are welcome to register at the campground between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. A portion of the proceeds from this year's run will go to benefit the Northern Hills Training Center.

The evening rounds off at Chris' Campground with a Wild West Chuckwagon Feed, awards ceremony and live entertainment by Gordy Pratt.
