Pennington County Commission Chairman Ethan Schmidt has filed petitions for re-election from District 3.
County Commission District 3 covers parts of Rapid City Council Wards 1, 2, 4 and 5.
Schmidt is finishing his first four-year term on the county commission.
He has also served on the Rapid City Planning Commission, Autumn Hills Homeowners Association, Western South Dakota Alzheimer’s Association and Clarkson Mountain View Advisory Council.
Schmidt is an attorney with the law firm of Schmidt, Schroyer, Moreno, Lee & Bachand.
