PIERRE - Between 200 and 400 truck drivers and some 50 to 100 big rigs were expected today in Pierre for a rally against high fuel prices.

Organizer Brian Frahm of Fort Pierre expected truckers from South Dakota, Iowa and Nebraska.

He said they would buddy-up because it would cost too much to bring all of their trucks.

The truckers were scheduled to gather at a capital city park and then drive a convoy past the state Capitol before returning to the park for rally speeches.

Frahm said the goal of the protest was to let state and national leaders know that high diesel prices are not just affecting truckers, but also small business owners, families and individuals.

Gov. Mike Rounds planned to address the group.
