There will be a benefit rummage and bake sale 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22., for 11-year-old Dylan Roberts, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The benefit will be at the United Methodist Church in Spearfish.

Organizers are accepting donations for rummage items and baked goods. The benefit will also include raffles with prizes.

Roberts was diagnosed with osteosarcoma of his left leg in June. He is undergoing chemotherapy at Sanford Children's Hospital in Sioux Falls and will undergo surgery to remove part of his leg Aug. 25 in Rochester, Minn.

All proceeds will pay for medical bills and travel expenses. Donations will be accepted at the church Aug. 22. To arrange for pickup or delivery of donation items, call Lindsey at 641-3342 or Susie at 870-2131. Cash donations are also being accepted at Pioneer Bank and Trust for the Dylan Roberts Medical Fund.

Roberts is the son and stepson of Troy and Lindsey Roberts of Spearfish, the son of Holly Hardie of Rapid City, and the grandson of Georgia Roberts of Spearfish and Velta and Rich Grosch of Whitewood.
