A number of sobriety checkpoints have been scheduled by South Dakota Highway Patrol officials for the month of November.
According to a news release from the Highway Patrol, checkpoints will be conducted in Bennett, Brown, Codington, Davison, Grant, Gregory, Hand, Jerauld, Lake, Lawrence, Lyman, Minnehaha, Pennington, Stanley, Union, and Walworth counties.
Officials said in the news release that in addition to detecting alcohol or drug impaired drivers, the Highway Patrol uses sobriety checkpoints to remind the public of the dangers of drinking and driving.
