According to the South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks Department, a motorist struck and killed a mountain lion shortly after midnight Sunday on Interstate 90, near the Lawrence-Meade County line.

John Kanta with the GF&P says a driver reported seeing the vehicle in front of him hit a mountain lion and keep going.

Kanta says the mountain lion was found dead at the scene. He says it was healthy, about 2 years old and weighed about 120 pounds.

Kanta says anyone whose vehicle hits a mountain lion should contact the GF&P right away because injured lions can be dangerous.
