A Belle Fourche 15-year-old may face drug and alcohol charges, among others, after an early Saturday morning car chase with police through Belle Fourche.

Three police vehicles were involved in the pursuit, which started with a stop sign violation. The chase ended on foot after tires blew out on the male juvenile's vehicle, and one of the officer's cars struck a tree on slippery streets in north Belle Fourche.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the accident, which resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to officer Greg Karels.

The juvenile was reported in custody at a Rapid City juvenile facility, facing a long list of possible charges that could include traffic, drug and alcohol violations.

The Butte County State's Attorney's office will determine whether to charge the juvenile as an adult.
