HOT SPRINGS - Alexandra Hoffman, Miss SDSU, of Eureka, was crowned Miss South Dakota Saturday night.
First runner-up was Miss Sioux Empire Fair, Jenna Hardy of Sioux Falls. Hardy also won the $1,000 Miss America Academic Scholarship, and the Top Interview Award.
Second runner-up was Miss James Valley, Alexis Le Van of Sioux Falls. She also was given the award for Miss Congeniality.
Third runner-up was Miss USD, Kate Wagner of Whitewood.
Fourth runner-up was Miss Rapid City, Anna Simpson of Rapid City.
Miss Hot Springs Aja Kessler of Rapid City and Miss I-29 Kelly Wismer of Britton were also in the top seven finalists. Miss Brookings, Elizabeth Gouin of Mitchell, won the award for most talented non-finalist. Miss Glacial Lakes, Elizabeth Overmoe of Mayfield, N.D., won the award for non-finalist interview.
Winning the preliminary talent award on the first night of competition on Wednesday, June 4, was Miss Sioux Empire Fair, Jenna Hardy of Sioux Falls. Hardy performed "Yesterday" on the vibraphone. Miss SDSU, Alexandra Hoffman, Eureka, won the preliminary swimsuit award on Wednesday night.
Hoffman also won the preliminary talent award during competition Thursday night, June 5, singing "Even Now." Miss I-29 Kelly Wismer, Britton, won the preliminary swimsuit award.
Miss Brookings, Elizabeth Gouin, won the Miss America Community Service Award. Bethanna Feist, Miss State Fair, won the Miss South Dakota Community Service Award.
Hoffman's platform is "Battling Obesity and Healthy Lifestyle Choices."
Hoffman will represent South Dakota at the Miss America pageant in January in Las Vegas. She will also appear in a reality show filmed by TLC (The Learning Channel).
