Two Black Hills area county officials have been elected as officers in the statewide Association of County Officials.

Dawn McLaughlin, current Custer County treasurer, is the first vice president, while Meade County Auditor Lisa Schieffer serves on the organization's executive board. Other officers elected at the state convention in Sioux Falls are Kingsbury County Auditor Caryn Hojer, president; Grant County Auditor Karen Layher, second vice president; and Hutchinson County Register of Deeds Julie Herrboldt and Deuel County Auditor Pam Lynde, executive board members.

The Pierre-based association promotes effective county government, works to improve procedures at county courthouses and provides information to the state Legislature and the public about how county officials serve citizens.
