Rapid City firefighters are reminding the public that state law requires drivers to pull over and stop for patrol cars, fire engines and ambulances that are using flashing lights or sirens.

Doing so helps save lives and property, fire Captain Mark Kirchgesler said in a news release.

"This time of year, with potential poor road conditions, it is especially important that drivers be aware of their surroundings, traffic and the need for safe vehicle operations," he said.

People with questions should call Kirchgesler at 394-4180.
