A second man has pleaded not guilty to charges filed in connection with the armed kidnapping of a Mission woman last summer.
Jordy Riley, 22, Okreek, pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court to an indictment charging him with first-degree burglary, use of a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, and aiding and abetting.
A co-defendant, David D. Larvie Jr., 25, Mission, has already pleaded not guilty to the same charges, as well as to a charge of kidnapping.
According to federal court documents, the men are accused of entering a Todd County home Aug. 7, brandishing a firearm and kidnapping the woman who lived there.
The maximum penalty upon conviction is life in prison and a $250,000 fine. The trial is set for April 1.

* Thomas Antoine, 21, Mission, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Karen Schreier to 70 months in prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine. According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Antoine pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute meth between June 13, 2006, and April 14, 2007.
* Jerome Ewing, 18, Lower Brule, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Charles Kornmann to 46 months in prison, three years of supervised release and $4,638.54 in restitution for fracturing a man's skull. According to federal court documents, Ewing admits to assaulting Andrew Booher Jr. on Sept. 15 after a night of drinking. Booher suffered a skull fracture and was hospitalized for several weeks as a result. Ewing pleaded guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury. He was originally indicted on two additional counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. The indictment indicated that Ewing used a rock and "shod feet" to assault Booher.
* Michael LaFramboise, 37, Wakpala, was sentenced by Kornmann to 16 months in custody and three years of supervised release for conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana between Nov. 5, 2005, and March 1, 2007. He will begin serving his sentence March 4.
* Harlan Garcia, 41, Denver, was convicted of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and distribution of a controlled substance at a jury trial in Rapid City. The charges involved methamphetamine distribution near Rapid City between 2004 and 2005. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison for conspiracy and five years in prison for distribution. The maximum penalty for conspiracy is life in prison, and the maximum penalty for distribution is 40 years in prison. Fines of up to $6 million are also possible. Sentencing was set for May 13. Garcia's co-defendant, Michelle Lucero, pleaded guilty to conspiracy and is serving a 63-month prison sentence.
* Stephen Makes Him First, 41, Little Eagle, pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon. Federal court documents show he admitted to stabbing a Little Eagle man Sept. 8. The maximum penalty is 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Makes Him First was detained pending sentencing May 5.
* Jordan King, 20, Mission, pleaded not guilty to a two-count indictment charging him with conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, the charge relates to an alleged conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine between Aug. 1, 2006, and April 14, 2007, and possession with intent to distribute marijuana between Jan. 1, 2001, and July 6, 2007. The maximum penalty upon conviction for the meth charge is 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine. King was released pending trial, which is set for April 8.
* Myron E. Night Shield, 22, Rapid City, pleaded not guilty to escape. Federal court documents show he is accused of walking away from Community Alternatives of the Black Hills, where he had been in custody. The maximum penalty upon conviction is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Trial was set for April 15.
