Seminars in Rapid City and Huron this month aim to offer community leaders resources and guidance to develop plans, networks and projects.
The Northwest Area Foundation Horizons Program is sponsoring two one-day sessions titled "Finding Community Direction."
The identical programs will be Monday, Sept. 17, at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel in Rapid City and Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Crossroads Hotel in Huron.
The events will be 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. local time and feature speaker John P. Kretzmann, co-director of The Asset-Based Community Development Institute. A resource fair, resource booths and lunch are part of the agenda.
The Horizons Program is made possible through the South Dakota State University Cooperative Extension Service.
The events are free for all Horizons community members and cost $20 for nonmembers. Registration is required. The deadline to register for either event is Thursday, Sept. 13.
Resource fair exhibitors featured at the events will include community development agencies such as the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Agency, U.S. Small Business Administration and the South Dakota State University Entrepreneurship Program.
The program seeks to help strengthen community networks and make connections between resources in towns and cities statewide.
Participants interested in the program can download the registration form at http://sdces.sdstate.edu/ces_website/files/ResourceFairbrochure07.pdf.
