South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service officials say the agency can help people develop plans for emergencies and disasters.

The Extension Service through the Extension Disaster Education Network is one of the partners supporting a national effort to increase awareness and preparation for disasters and emergencies. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has designated September as National Preparedness Month.

For more information, go to http://sdces.sdstate. edu/prepare/ or ask for information at a county Extension office.

The Web site can link individuals, families, businesses, schools, faith-based organizations and childcare facilities to county emergency management personnel, South Dakota State University disaster preparedness information, and other disaster-related organizations.

The campaign complements the South Dakota Department of Health's "bReady" campaign, according to a news release from SDSU. For more information, contact E. Kim Cassel at 688-4507 or kim.cassel@sdstate.edu.
