Terry Whiting officially assumed the duties of the president of the Youth & Family Services Board of Directors during the agency's 43rd Annual Meeting and Celebration in July.

Whiting, a member of the YFS board of directors since 1989, previously was vice president of the board. She succeeds outgoing president, John R. Murphy of Murphy Law Office. Murphy, who has been a board member since July 2002, will remain on the board.

The other board officers for 2008-09 are Ron Reed, vice president; Margo Julius, secretary; and Phil Zacher, treasurer.

Also elected to the YFS Board of Directors during the meeting were Gerard Baker, Mount Rushmore National Monument superintendent; Shannon Casey-Ballard, co-owner of Bear Country USA; Mary Helland, vice president of Eagle Sales of the Black Hills; Shirley Johnson, loan processor for Pioneer Bank and Trust; and William White, Morgan Stanley senior vice president branch manager. Tom Sexton, co-owner of Taco Bell, Patsy True, retired West Hills Village marketing and sales director, Pam Fritz, St. Thomas More High School substitute teacher, and Phyllis Dixon, a retired educator and community leader, were elected to the board earlier this year.

Board members re-elected for three-year terms include: Barbara R. Butler, Greg Hollibaugh, Roger Johnsen, Margo Julius, Kyle Mattison, Sue McCormick, John R. Murphy, R. Neil Sperling, Debra Watson and Phil Zacher.
