From Monday to Sunday, Sept. 8-14, Rapid City Public Library patrons can donate canned food or packaged dry food items to reduce or eliminate their library fines.

The library will waive up to $5 in fines for every pound of food donated to the Black Hills Food Bank.

Fine Forgiveness Week is just one aspect of the national "Library Card Sign-Up Month." During September, patrons can win prizes for getting or renewing a library card and get special deals when they show their library card at participating local businesses.

Kids also can enter the library's "Name the Bookworm" contest and attend the September story time sessions that will feature members of the new Rapid City Rush hockey team.
