Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and Habitat for Humanity International will contribute $143,000 this year toward the construction of two homes for low-income families in Rapid City and Spearfish.
The pledge is part of the groups' $24 million commitment to help build 314 affordable houses in 37 states and the District of Columbia, according to a news release.
Black Hills Area Habitat Director Scott Engmann said that in the past three years, the Thrivent Build program provided $350,000 and built six homes.
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is a nonprofit financial services organization with nearly 3 million members. The Black Hills Area Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian ministry that has built 55 homes locally and 25 in developing countries since 1990.
