A Rosebud man won't have to serve time behind bars for driving drunk and running over a child who was younger than 7 years old.
Forty-year-old Ramon Good Buffalo pleaded earlier guilty in federal court in Pierre to assault resulting in substantial bodily injury.
He was sentenced this week to three years probation, $300 restitution to the victim's family and a $100 victim fund assessment.
According to court documents, Good Buffalo was driving under the influence of alcohol on June 28 in a residential area on the Rosebud Indian Reservation when he ran over the child.
The victim's name, gender, age and injuries were not included in court documents.
