The National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities recently honored Dillon Haug of Spearfish with the Cassandra Zietz Youth Leadership Award.

The Cassandra Zietz Award salutes a young person with a developmental disability who demonstrates a commitment to community involvement.

Haug is described as someone who makes Spearfish a "nice place to live." His nominators said Haug strives to live a full life.

In addition to working, Haug is active in his church, Lions Club and Black Hills State University, and he attends a morning coffee group.

He is an officer for the South Dakota Council on Developmental Disabilities and a member of the South Dakota Advocacy Services Protection and Advocacy for Developmental Disabilities Board.
