The state parks system has honored three of its own for their work on the Roughlock Falls Nature Area in Spearfish Canyon.
Paul Beckwith, Brad Block and Harley Noem were recognized at the division's recent annual meeting in Brookings.
They designed and helped oversee the extensive facelift in visitor facilities before the area's grand opening in July. Additions and upgrades to the area included observation decks, stamped concrete sidewalks, picnic tables, bathrooms, benches, decks, bridges, interpretive signing, expanded parking, railings and places to safely get your feet wet in the creek.
