BELLE FOURCHE | A 25-year-old Belle Fourche man has been identified as the person who died Friday morning in a two-vehicle crash east of Belle Fourche.
According to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, Jeremiah Chyba was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say the crash happened at 7 p.m. Friday when Trystin Goff, 24, of Rapid City, was driving a 1999 Ford F-350 pickup westbound on South Dakota Highway 34, about 6 miles east of Belle Fourche. When Goff tried to pass a pickup hauling a flatbed trailer, he struck Chyba's eastbound 2007 Volkswagon Jetta.
Goff suffered minor injuries and was transported to the Spearfish hospital.
Both men were wearing seat belts, according to authorities.
South Dakota’s Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office and Spearfish Ambulance also responded to the crash.
