For the past three years, Wayne Holtzman had to live the Sturgis cycle rally vicariously through his son Adam, 28.
The 64-year-old Saskatchewan, Canada, man heard his son's stories of the rally.
“I always wanted to come to it, but work got in the way,” Holtzman said.
This year, Adam and his friends invited their dads to join them. Holtzman was all in.
They arrived Aug. 4 and will stay through the week.
“We rode six hours on Saturday,” Holtzman said. Sunday’s itinerary included Mount Rushmore and Needles Highway.
So how does the real-life rally compare to all the stories he’s heard over the years?
“It’s much better than I ever thought it would be,” Holtzman said.
So what about Sturgis 2018?
“I will definitely be back.”
