For $500, Fox News fans will have the chance to shake hands with Bill O'Reilly and comedian Dennis Miller when they perform on July 25 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

The duo's "Bolder and Fresher Tour," which since 2011 has been traveling the country, will be making its first stop in South Dakota when it comes to Rapid City. Regular ticket sales started Wednesday and the least expensive option is $67.50 for a balcony seat.

O'Reilly is best-known as host to the "O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News. He also has written books like the recently released "Killing Jesus: A History" and "Culture Warrior," which was published in 2006.

Miller, who has been spoofing the news since at least the 1980s when he anchored "Saturday Night Live's" Weekend Update, now hosts a radio talk show and makes regular appearances on the "O'Reilly Factor" for a segment called Miller Time, where the conservative commentators discuss current topics.

It is that feature that inspired the pair's traveling talk show.

"When Dennis does his spots, O'Reilly questions him about various issues in the news and things going on in popular culture," Paul Shefrin, the publicist for Miller, said of the tour's shows.

Having worked together for a number of years during "Miller Time," the tour is essentially a live rendition of the two's on-air dialog.

"Dennis has been doing the spot on O'Reilly's show for years now, four or five years," Shefrin said. "There's a certain chemistry between them that Bill likes and he said: 'Hey, why don't we go on the road together.' It's been a very successful show for the past few years."

Event promoters couldn't explain exactly why smaller venues like Rapid City or Fargo are chosen, but Shefrin said the tour has predominately stopped in cities of similar size.

"Most of the tour has been in venues, give or take, approximately that size," he said. "There's been some larger, some smaller. For instance, they're playing Pittsburgh. That's a larger venue. They're playing Honolulu. That's a smaller venue than this. The next night they're playing in Fargo, so obviously routing comes into play."

O'Reilly and Miller will perform at Barnett Arena, which can seat up to 10,400. The show, however, will be limited to half of the arena to seat approximately a third of that capacity.

"So, they will cut the arena in half and have a curtain behind them," Civic Center General Manager Brian Maliske said. "There will be seating for approximately 3,500."

Meet-and-greet tickets with VIP front-row seats to the show cost $500. Special floor seats are available at $127.50, and balcony seats are $67.50.

I am glad that the Journal got the verb right - they will "perform." Like all political pundits, they perform to earn money.

When we stop acting like pundits actually have the best interest of anyone at heart, we might get back to reasonable political discourse (although I highly doubt it. But it couldn't hurt.)

Maybe he'll further explain his reasoning of linking pot use in kids to text messaging use in kids. Calling them both addictions. And explain how we can be more like China.

I can only speak for myself but, I have to give the person managing this forum a BIG thumbs up..
After 2-3 years of attempting to use this forum occasionally and leaving because of comments getting denied for NO reason, it is good to be able to use my local newspaper forum.....I think the recent increase in comments is proof of the improvement of management..
Whoever you are ...good job, keep it up

I wouldn't pay a dime to see that anti-gun RINO. I'm a Republican and he is not worth my hard earned money. If you don't believe me about his stance on guns, google it or read this story: http://www.examiner.com/article/fox-news-bill-o-reilly-becomes-gun-control-advocate

Whoops, i should have read farther, franks newest hero is ted nugent, the draft dodging hate speech specialist.

You know, my comment about Uncle Ted was very brief and not once did I say he was my hero. My hero is Jesus Christ. The Detroit Madman is awesome on the guitar. I also love Elton John. Is it ok for me to like people because of their talents and leave politics out of it?

Yeah, these prices are ridiculous. It would be entertaining to see who ends up sitting in the front row. Actually, O'Reilly has always seemed like one of the more sensible conservative blowhards. Much more so than Hannity or Limbaugh. Miller, just isn't that funny, although I actually liked him on Monday Night Football because he was quite a bit smarter than the other two guys and would throw out obscure quotes and references from literature, philosophy and the like. The other guys didn't have a clue what he was talking about. Problem was, neither did most of the TV audience.

Frank Smith
Frank Smith

Neither do 9 out of 10 leftists on this board.

Honestly....

I find NPR (if you ignore some shows like "wait wait don't tell me" that have obvious bias).... To be worth listening to.

The news in the afternoon is odd, but is not horribly biased. Morning edition is good as well, as far as broadcast anything goes anymore. I really like listening to the BBC views on happenings in our country, just to give us a taste of how others see us.

For news, I read google news and yahoo news as my major source.

For CNN or FOX, I'd not pay a dime to meet either Wolf Blitzer or Bill O, both are disconnected from the nation as a whole.

Frank Smith
Frank Smith

Not that it matters, but I like reading news from a variety of sources - primarily CNN, WSJ, RCJ, some UK stuff, WaPo, NYT, etc. Never Fox - too many popups (on TV or in print) - simply because I don't like the writing style.

Danger

You might see some liberals there if it were subsidized.

By the way Buldog, you haven't answered my question yet.

Posey

Will the performance involve a loofah or falafel?

It might include free handouts. You never know. Will you be camping overnight for the event?

Buldog

Speaking of subsidized danger why is it that the red teapub states take more handouts from the government than the blue states do? Oh, your question has been answered and it appears that you drifted and lorie have all curled up in some hole.

If you want the real -- unbiased and unslanted --- news, watch PBS.

Frank Smith
Frank Smith

Oh God, that's a good one!

Lorie Johnson

PBS is government subsidized. It's information straight from Mother Government. That's why liberals trust them almost as much as MSNBC ...ALMOST.

Posey

Where do you get your news?

NPR....

NPR has some obviously liberal shows, and some of their features are odd and very left-leaning, but the news per-se is really quite good and doesn't have nearly as much slant as nearly any TV media source does. I'm not buying Lorie's comment, at least in terms of specifically NPR news on the radio. I like to hear the BBC comments as well.

I've noticed that Fox news (on the radio) is also much much less slanted than the TV source is.

Johnnny000a

Now you can hear all the latest talking points LIVE. Now instead of just watching people argue over whether red or blue is prettier on TV you can watch it in person. What a privilege. While republicans and democrats dine together, golf together, take money from the same lobbyists, and hang out at the same country clubs on our dime. They pretend like they hate eachother on the news. Anyone else feel like they are getting taken for a ride.

Frank Smith
Frank Smith

Every single time Obama or Boehner speaks we are being taken for a ride. I can't stomach either of them.

I highly doubt you are right. And I doubt you have watched him enough to even know what he says or thinks.

Frank Smith

I love Dennis Miller, but can't stand O'Reilly. I would never pay either of these prices to see these guys, however. Imagine paying $50,000 for a dinner with Obama. That's about as likely. But I doubt the leftists on this thread will see any similarities through their rose colored glasses. I have to wonder just how many people will show up at these prices. I wonder if they will be reduced to half-priced just before the event.

I would not pay either.

The prices are appalling, If I want to feel nauseated I could watch any number of Fox or CNN programs at home, or if I really want to control my appetite, I could watch Bill Mahr on HBO as well. It's hard to find non-slanted TV news anymore, anywhere.

Straight news please, leave the (left/right) commentary on the side.

@ frank, on one hand I understand why you "love" Dennis Miller, neither of you is good at being informed and you both think supporting the wrong side of history is something cool. . But on the other hand, do you really "love" his socially liberal view points on gay marriage and abortion?

Jim Stewart: I'm in total concurrence w/you. It looks like some of these others are the kool aide drinkers!
