Cowboys from around the region will compete for more than $21,000 in cash and other prizes at the Ranch Rodeo.
The rodeo, which will take place Jan. 30 at the James Kjerstad Event Center on the Central States Fairgrounds, will feature more than 60 cowboys from South Dakota, Montana, Nebraska, Minnesota and North Dakota.
Teams comprised of four people will compete in three preliminary events for the chance to make the finals at 7:30 p.m. The overall winner of the rodeo will receive a cash prize.
Organizers expect more than 6,000 people to attend the rodeo, which has grown into one of the most popular events at the Black Hills Stock Show.
"We look forward to folks coming out and supporting cowboys that they know on teams and getting together to catch up," said Tif Robertson, chairwoman of the Ranch Rodeo and Broncs for Breakfast.

Another popular event, the Broncs for Breakfast, will get started at 8 a.m. Jan. 31 with a meal featuring biscuits and gravy. A calcutta will take place at 10 a.m. with bronc riding scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. The long-go will feature 32 ranch bronc riders, with the top eight advancing to the short-go.
According to the stock show's website, a total of $6,000 is up for grabs on Burch Rodeo stock.
"This event is growing leaps and bounds each year," Robertson said. "It's full of wild bucking horse action and a great way to kick off a Wednesday at the Black Hills Stock Show."
Tickets are $12 and include both the breakfast and admission to the performance.
