BELLE FOURCHE – The Third Annual Phil McNally Community Education Walk/Run took off early Friday morning from Belle Fourche Middle School. It was an opportunity to celebrate a man whose life made an impact on many others in the Belle Fourche schools and community.

The beautiful sunrise and rainbow made the morning perfect. Although students, teachers and community members walked or ran in the light rain, 40-50 people turned out for the event.

“This Walk or Run began as a way to commemorate our colleague, Phil McNally, but we hope it continues to grow as a connection between our community and our educators,” said Joann Stephens, Belle Fourche Middle School teacher and Education Association treasurer. “Organizing this event is just bringing people together.”

Stephens also noted that “Our participation was down a little due to the weather but everyone had umbrellas and were dressed for the weather. Some year it will be snow!”
