NEWELL – The Homecoming Parade in Newell was met with an enthusiastic crowd Friday afternoon. The beautiful weather highlighted each float and participant during the short route.
This year’s theme was “Your Favorite Board Game” and the students had a lot of fun coming up with exceptional ideas.
From Scrabble to Hungry Hippos, the students showed off their imaginations (with the help of teachers, too) and demonstrated the uniqueness of Newell students. The students had most of the week to work on their floats, with final touches being made Friday morning.
Newlympics took place Friday morning for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Following lunch, the students gathered downtown to begin the parade. The parade route was a few short blocks through the middle of Newell with friends and family gathered along on both sides of the street.
Students were dismissed early at 1:30 p.m. to enjoy the afternoon and get ready for the football game that evening against the Harding County Ranchers.
Newell lost their homecoming game with a score of 58-6.
