Two Chadron contestants were high in the rankings at the Miss Alliance pageant Saturday.
Kodi Lee Baumann, 22, of Chadron, was crowned Miss Alliance 2018 and will represent the area at the Miss Nebraska pageant next June in North Platte. Bauman, whose platform is seatbelt safety, was also voted Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants.
Shelby Blundell, also from Chadron, was named First Runner Up in the Miss Alliance Outstanding Teen portion of the competition and was voted as the Teen Audience Choice winner.
Other winners Saturday included Alexandria Warneke, 17, of York, who was crowned Miss Harvest Moon Festival, and Emily Curtis, 23, who was crowned Miss Panhandle. Warneke was voted the Audience Choice Winner, and will encourage STEM education during her reign. Curits won the Overall Talent Award and tied for the Overall Interview Award and said she hopes to encourage more women to pursue careers in the STEM field by creating a network of support.
Chloe Blumenthal won the Miss Alliance Outstanding Teen title, while Jade Vak was crowned Miss Harvest Moon Festival Outstanding Teen.
They will compete at the 2018 Miss Nebraska/Outstanding Teen pageants next June.
Courtney Pelland of North Platte was named First Runner Up to Miss Alliance.
Saturday’s pageant was dedicated to Miss Alliance 2017 and Miss Chadron 2018 Kaelia Nelson, who died late last month.
