It’s time to ring the bells!
Every year a dedicated bunch of volunteers come forward to help with the Salvation Army Bell Ringing Campaign. It is important work because 90% of the money raised stays right here in Dawes County to help people in emergency situations. Whether it’s emergency food, assistance to prevent their heat to be shut off during a bitter cold month or homelessness prevention for families about to be evicted, the Salvation Army funds are there.
The goal this year is to raise $13,000, but volunteers are still needed. If you would like to ring the bells you can sign up online, just go to the Northwest Community Action Partnership website www.ncap.info and select News& Events from the menu. Or you can call NCAP at 432-3393 and say “I want to ring the bells.”
Shifts are just 1.5 to 2 hours long and begin during Thanksgiving week. The following week volunteers will ring bells Thursday through Saturday and add a day each week until Christmas. Ringers take a day off on Sundays. Watch the tree in front of the NCAP office at 270 Pine Street to see the progress. The star on top of the tree will be lit when when the goal is met.
