Joseph Henry Malone, 78, of Chadron died Oct. 20, 2017, at Chadron Community Hospital.
He was born Aug. 19, 1939, in Valentine, to Thomas H Malone and Seaclinda Nolette.
He grew up along the Niobrara River near Valentine and educated in Valentine.
On April 29, 1960, he married DeLonny Hathord in RushvillE. To this union two children were born, Patricia Sulee and Ronald Lee.
He worked with his dad as a truck driver hauling livestock. He milked cows by hand and later went to work for Budweiser in Valentine. Then he went to work driving truck over the road for 13 years. He later worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads for 10 years. He then drove a mail truck for many years.
He married Velinda S. Blaney April 25, 1998, in Chadron.
He enjoyed playing with his many dogs and cats. He also loved to plant the garden and take care of the tomatoes and peppers.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Lewie, Raymond, Robert, and Willie, and his sister Dorthy.
He is survived by his wife Velinda Malone of 19 years; daughter Patricia Sulee of Tacoma, Washington; son Ronald (Marci) of Chadron; brother John of Gordon; step-children: Darrell Brott of Chadron, Christina (Cody) White of Arvada, Colorado; grandchildren: Alicia Bairn, Andrew Whitney, and Haley Cole; one great-grandchild; brothers-in-law Delbert Blany of Montana, Roca Joe Blaney of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Sammuel Blaney of Lusk, Wyoming, and George Davis of Pen; sisters-in-law Debra Jacobs of Warland, Lavelda Wickwire of Casper, Wyoming, and Betty Lewis of Seattle, Washington; mother-in-law Clarebell Davis of Lusk, Wyoming.
Services for Joseph Malone will be Saturday, Oct. 28, at 10 a.m. at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron.
