Lloyd Arnold Serres was born Aug. 26, 1951, in Gordon to Ernest Paul Serres and Alice Waunita (Glass) Serres. He was older brother to Rodney, Thomas, Nancy, Daniel, Kathy.  Lloyd was husband to Renae; father to Ernest, Lisa, Ryan, and Billie Jean; father-in-law to Rosie and Sophie; grandfather to Ailema, Robert, and Ash; and uncle to dozens. He passed away Oct. 1, 2017, in Martin, South Dakota.

Lloyd was raised in Chadron, where he graduated from Chadron High school. Some of Lloyd’s accomplishments include being a Navy C.B. during the Vietnam War, a Journeyman Electrician, a true horseman, and a sober alcoholic for 21 years.

Lloyd had a huge heart and a habit of bringing home strays, both animals and humans.  He enjoyed helping people and always stood for those who needed him.  Lloyd hated bullies and dishonesty and would never hesitate to let you know his opinion on whatever matter was under discussion.

After Lloyd moved to South Dakota, he reevaluated his life, went to treatment for his alcoholism and joined AA.  During his time in AA, Lloyd helped dozens of people make better life decisions.  AA became one of the main focuses in his life for the last 21 years.  Lloyd found fulfillment and strength in his meetings and in helping others.

Lloyd loved all of his nieces and nephews and was very proud of all of their accomplishments.  He loved his children and was the best father that he knew how to be.  Lloyd adored his grandchildren and loved being “Papa.”

Lloyd took his position as oldest child very seriously.  He did his very best to take care of his mother and make sure that she was happy and provided for.  Lloyd loved his brothers and sisters and always had a piece of advice, whether they wanted it or not.  He was always there to listen to anyone who needed an ear.

Lloyd was passionate about many things.  He loved horses and his beloved dog Banjo.  He enjoyed fishing, road trips - as long as he was driving, old country music, & a good bargain.  He loved ranching, being a cowboy, & living the Western lifestyle.

Lloyd was loved by many and will be missed by all.
