Chadron High’s FBLA Chapter earned plenty of recognition during the State Leadership Conference in Omaha this month and will send a student and an advisor to the national competition.
Teacher Brenda Budler was recognized as the Advisor of the Year for the State of Nebraska, and Grace Sorenson won the Emerging Business Issues competition to qualify for nationals. Budler and Sorenson will attend the national conference in Baltimore, Md., in June, representing the state.
Chadron’s FBLA Chapter took 11 members to the state competition this year, participating in a business tour of Redstone, attending workshops and competing in a variety of business competitions. The conference April 4-7 was attended by more than 2,300 students and advisors.
In addition to Budler and Sorenson’s national qualifying wins, CHS award winners were as follows:

Business Communications (549 students): Hunter Hawk, Honorable Mention, Top 4 percent
Hospitality Management (60 teams): Hunter Hawk, Grace Sorenson, Mande Wollesen, Honorable Mention, Top 4 percent
Introduction to Business Communications (406 students): Grace Sorenson, Honorable Mention, Top 4 percent
