A Chadron High School student remains hospitalized in Denver, Colo., this week after being involved in a one-vehicle accident on Airport Road.

A benefit account for Dylan Waldron has been established at First National Bank of North Platte, and a fundraiser is planned for Friday, ahead of the Cardinals’ playoff game against Wayne. A $5 tailgate meal will be served on the west side of the CHS football field from noon to 2 p.m., with all proceeds going toward Waldron’s medical expenses.

Waldron, 17, initially was flown to Regional West Medical Center after an Oct. 17 accident. According to a Dawes County Sheriff’s accident report he sustained severe injuries. The accident took place at 7:50 a.m., and a post by Waldron’s family on Facebook last week indicates he was on his way to school when the wreck occurred.

The cause of the accident is unclear at this time. The accident report notes that Waldron was unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived, but debris from his 2004 Chevrolet pickup was thrown all over the road and in the ditch. The vehicle was listed as totaled.
